Ometepe Island; formed by two volcanoes rising from Lake Nicaragua, its name comes from the words Nahuatl, "ome" (two) and "tepetl" (mountain). The two volcanoes are connected by a low isthmus to form an hourglass-shaped island. In the center left, the turquoise-browed guardabarranco or motmot, a colorful, medium-sized bird that inhabits Central America. It is the national bird of Nicaragua.
