Suzanne Bélair (1781-1805), called Sanité Bélair, freedom fighter and Haitian revolutionary, lieutenant in Toussaint Louverture's army. She is considered one of the heroes of the Haitian revolution.

Fort Cap-Rouge in Jacmel. Built in late 1818, it was one of twenty forts built after Haiti's independence as a defensive system in case the French decided to return to the island to re-impose slavery.
